We’re still over 4 months away from Marvel’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, the sequel to 2012’s 3rd highest grossing film of all time, but Disney owned Marvel Studios has already sketched out their entire movie and TV slate through 2019. ANT MAN opens in July a mere 2 months after AVENGERS, but after that comes what might be the most interesting of all the sequels they have in the pipeline. CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR has already announced that Robert Downey Jr. as IRON MAN will appear in the film as a major role. Along with Scarlett Johanssen’s BLACK WIDOW, the introduction (if it doesn’t happen in AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON) of BLACK PANTHER, as well as their already established the FALCON and WINTER SOLDIER. There is even the Sony hacked emails showing that they were approached to include SPIDER-MAN in the film as well. Given the power packed heroes in such large number, it has me wondering why it’s being billed as a CAPTAIN AMERICA movie as opposed to just a MARVEL movie.

Hey, Marvel, I have an idea. Either just call this movie MARVEL’s CIVIL WAR, or if you really really want to bank some dollars, rename it CAPTAIN AMERICA & IRON MAN: CIVIL WAR. If RDJ’s Tony Stark is in a lot of the movie, you might as well put the IRON MAN name in the title. It’s what people want to see, and thanks to Downey, the character name is a billion dollar deal.

The appeal of MARVEL’s “Cinematic Universe” is that it has crossovers like the comics did. Now with the expansion into TV on ABC as well as the Netflix series, we should hope to see even more crossovers into multiple formats.
