Which works on leases of short-numbered hours

Has it really been almost a month since I wrote my last blog? Holy hell, it has. Aside from doing freelance work as a TD (Technical Director), I’ve been directing the live shows for ALMOST ADEQUATE with J.H. Nuber and NOT SO LATE SHOW with Johnny DiLoretto, so my dance card is so full, I cannot get enough sleep. Especially with new episodes of Twin Peaks to catch. I have my own switcher, 5 cameras, and all the cables and mixers to make this all work. Each week entails new purchases to refine the package. I just bought a tiny little Lenovo to act as a media player/deck and getting it to work has been something of a nightmare. All I needed it to do was play videos via VLC player, but I also wanted it to connect to the Blackmagic Designs ATEM for switching, even though 98% of what I need is on-board the switcher now.

Just tonight, I achieved all my goals and it even includes future streams I intend to do in 24P cinematic look over the 60i video look that has permeated most of my live streams thus far. The future 24P multicam shoots will lose 3 of my cameras because the HDMI out of those only has the option of 60i.

This tiny little Lenovo caused me issues since it only has a 32 gig hard drive. I figured that would be okay since I won’t be using media on the internal drive. I did buy a 128 gig MicoSD card to help the storage, although I tend to use external drives for the live events anyway. I pesky Windows 10 update nearly crashed the entire thing when it expanded past the 32 gig internal drives ability to unpack the files. It took some work, but I did get it back working – in spite of the Geek Squad recommendation to simply return it and buy something more expensive.

Another NOT SO LATE SHOW this week, and next week back to ALMOST ADEQUATE.
