I donít recall the last time I was this busy. Working multiple jobs for several vendors, drone shots, camera operator, editing on someoneís short film, publishing another book, and teaching. Your faithful narrator remains ever so occupied. So why not add to that by re-writing a feature film?
Thereís a script Iíve been tinkering with for about a decade. It has not fermented in a way that makes it palatable to make just yet. I get spurts of inspiration and some work gets done on it, then it fades away. I have taken another crack at the treatment and revised it some more and have handed it off to someone else to write, if for nothing else just a writing project.
I have always intended to do something unconventional, at least for feature film work, and workshop aspects of the script with a writing team later. Much more akin to writing for a sitcom on television, I wanted to get the input of funny people and write the jokes in a group setting, trying to get the most out of the material rather than just rely on my single sense of humor.
I cannot even get my own three minute short film and I am tackling a possible microbudget feature film. I must be insane. Or motivated. Or both.
In other news, I finished the newer format for the Sonnyboo Podcast starring Jocelyn Tanis replacing me as host. I donít really want to host segments on FRAMELINES anymore either, except maybe the roundtables. I am interested in sharing the spotlight and never making it about me.
Took the drone out for a shoot when it was sunny. I wrecked it in a tree and only damaged some propellers. Thankfully. Got it out of the tree and sent it back up with no problems. Got the shots needed and moved on. I cannot wait to do more with this thing. I love the footage from it.
Directing some gigs this week. Live directing excites me because itís new. Always learning, always doing new things keeps me feeling fresh. As fresh as a 45 year old man can feel.
I really appreciate life right now. I am thankful for my friends, my home (not just house), and every little thing I have right at this moment. There is little else I can want in the day than what I have.
ĒOh, Mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Law man has put an end to my running and I'm so far from my home
Oh, Mama I can hear you a-cryin', you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows and I don't have very long
The jig is up, the news is out
They've finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
This will be the end today
Of the wanted manĒ
