Blog : More flowers I noted, yet I none could see
Posted on 2016/6/2 20:19:55

So I had a near panic. On one of my sidelined projects, the Movie Cliché series, I had outlined and shot the greenscreen portion for over 30 of these and only produced around 10 of them. The greenscreen host segments were mostly edited, but the hard part, the examples, were not even shot yet for the rest. I put it aside because I did not feel I was getting the examples right. So the lackluster response unmotivated me. Still, the Movie Cliché project still might come to life later if I could lick the problem I had as both a writer and director.

The panic came in the form of missing files. To clear room on the internal hard drive at home, I deleted the greenscreen raw footage. I assumed I had already made a backup copy on a 2 Terabyte external drive. When I finally plugged that drive in, these files were nowhere to be found. No worries, I keep another copy of things like this at the office at work, right? Okay, there only 2 of the 6 files were on my drive. Panic set in - as this is the tapeless world, raw footage deleted is like it never existed and a lot of people’s work disappears forever.

Luckily, I kept all of them on another drive on the EDIT B setup…. Whew! First thing I did was re-key an existing Movie Cliché, which really wasn’t a cliché and fit the mold of a Sonnyboo Podcast, so it was all uprezzed to 4K, slapped the new Sonnyboo Podcast title on it, and the rebranded, rekeyed, and repurposed video was done in about 60 minutes.

LNow, I am sludging through the greenscreen segments of the other Movie Cliché to see if there’s anything there worth pursuing now. I remember the motivation at the time was to do several quick and easy setups and shoots, many of them interrelated and hammer them out. Without sacrificing efficiency for quality.

Maybe there’s still something there. I don’t know. It will take a while to get through a few hours footage.

Life never ceases to amaze me. I have good luck, bad luck, and in the end it all evens out a little in my favor. This is still a quiet time in my world. I find I am being more social, reaching out to friends a little more often than I have of late.

”Shadows are fallin' and I'm runnin' out of breath
Keep me in your heart for a while
If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for a while
When you get up in the mornin' and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for a while
There's a train leavin' nightly called "When All is Said and Done"
Keep me in your heart for a while”
