Finished the first of three Uncle Pete’s Play Time bits. One of the new clips is going to be animation heavy, as in the entire middle needs character animation and I was looking to farm that out. Since I upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud, I got every single one of their software applications and I accidently double clicked on one called “Character Animator” which is now a part of After Effects.

And then I lost over 4 hours in a bottomless well of tutorials and videos on this software…. I never wanted to be an animator. I love certain animated shows and what not, just never fancied my creativity for this type of thing. The notion of manually making all those changes and mouth movements just seemed so daunting that I never considered animation. Now I am frothing at the mouth to get started. I’m working to get several characters I already have all animated just because I can. Luckily, I can turn all of it to a project that is already in the queue, Uncle Pete’s Play Time.

Overall, lately I have been staying on track. Getting the workload finished. Every day, I carve out time for swimming, editing on Framelines, and making way on other projects I have lined up. One thing I am having trouble starting is the writing on a feature length script.

I told myself I needed to write one scene a day, even if it got completely thrown out and re-written later. Just one scene. That’s not too daunting, not too much to ask one’s self to commit to. Nope. Still can’t do it. I have a complete outline, a detailed scene by scene outline to work from. Still can’t initiate that process. I get so easily derailed by a paid job, or an immediate distraction, and if it’s after 6:00PM, forget about it; procrastination has got its claws so deeply embedded that there’s no chance, even though a single scene would only take an hour or two to hammer out.

Looks like I will be back to teaching college level filmmaking in the next few weeks.

All is well in the land of Ross. Health better, energy high, creativity percolating, cats being cats, and happiness abound.

“In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway nine,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin’ out over the line”
