Working on the next podcast release. It was shot over 4 months ago, the main edit was done 3.5 months ago, and I’m just now getting to the part where I do graphics and finalize it. I turned the “What is Feature Length?” podcast out in a week from the shoot. This one I’ve sat on because the animation is a lot more complex. I just did an animation for the greenscreen background that goes behind me. Since the inside filmmakers joke for the background in the “What is Feature Length?” podcast worked out so well, I’ve decided to continue with that. This one will be a little harder, although far more current in its origins.

I played with virtual lights and the virtual depth of field in After Effects for this background. The nice, softer backgrounds smooth out greenscreen shots of talking heads. It also gave me the piece of the creative puzzle I was missing – what to animate my text and images to. These things are giant blank canvas with a gazillion options. If you don’t have some idea where to go, you can’t start.

The music to animate to has been string quartets, specifically some Mozart and Haydn. Very soothing. The past couple nights have been amazingly blissful sleep. Stress left my world like rats off a sinking ship. Everything is going to work out fine.
